Tuesday 17th October 2017 – A Week Tomorrow

There is only a week tomorrow until we are due to arrive at the Embassy and we’re making good progress. Today’s walkers have been Aristotle who managed another 1.3miles. Then Salvo and Izzy did 1.9 miles each. They pawed across to Shadow whose 1.3 miles brought us to Henin sur Cojeul. From there Cleo took over and added 2.9 miles, before Wilma added another 2.3miles bringing us to the outskirts of Arras. Finally Basil and Sybil added 4 miles each taking us through Arras and out to a place called Mont Saint Eloi. We’ve done 392 miles of the total which means there is just another 160 miles to go.

Then Dickens took up the pace and added another 3.6miles, before passing over to Basil for a 3.5mile stint and Sybil for the last mile of the day.

Sunday 15th October 2017 – 200 miles to go

Thanks to the glorious weather the walking has been very enjoyable today. Elliot told us his walk this week of 3.3miles and then he set out with seven other Entlebuchers today to add another 4.2 miles each. Which means on the map there was 7.5miles for Elliot and 4.2 miles each for Sybil, Basil, Dora (green paw on the map), Babeli, Heidi, Bella and Laika (red paw on the map). They took us past Laon and on to Couvron et Aumencourt.

Then Shadow and Wilma set off and added 6 miles each bringing our total distance up to 335 miles. Then we heard from Dickens (dark blue paw print on the map) and he has done 17.3miles taking us past Saint Quentin and on to a little place called Bellicourt. That brings our total up to 352 miles and that means we’ve only got 200 miles to go!

Friday 13th October 2017 – Ready for a Big Push This Weekend

We’re a week into the walk and it’s going well. This weekend will see a big group walk in Dorney, Berkshire with a whole group of Entlebuchers getting together for Heidi. Today the activity was as follows:

Aristotle managed his best walk of the week and walked just over 2km. Salvo then walked 3.2km to the edge of the Marne region of France. Izzy’s 3.2km took us to the outskirts of Saint Mard sur le Mont. Wilma and Shadow added just over 2km each to take us close to Contault. After that we put on quite a spurt of distance – Floria, Bella and Heidi added 7.7km each and took us right as far as Chalons en Champagne, a stop many of us know from the times we drive the route. Sybil then added 3.2km and Basil an impressive 11.2km to finish the night at just past Vadenay. That’s now 263 miles of the 552 complete.

Walk for Heidi update Mon 9th October

Today’s reported stages

News came in last night of Elliot’s walk. He did 13km (just over 8 miles) to raise money for Heidi. He’s shown with the orange ‘walker’ symbol and takes us almost to the Col de Raon.

Salvo and Izzy stepped out again and took us past Hadol, before pawing over to Aristotle for his first part of the walk. Aristotle has elbow dysplasia so is having to do his walk in short stages. He’s doing his best but today managed just 1.4km (he’s shown as the green walker on the map).

Bella, Heidi and Cleo stepped out and managed 5.67km each. Their combined total has taken us as far as Gorhey (Cleo is the yellow walker symbol)

Where we’ve got to

Basil took us on through France to Dompaire before pawing over to Wilma for the last leg of the day. Wilma (purple walker symbol) takes us to the 147 mile stage.

Today’s leg

Today Alfie (dark grey) at nearly twelve years old set of on a short leg of the Walk

Alfie and Shadow

for Heidi. Although he’s been finding walks and public places too stressful for some time, he set out on a beautiful quiet sunny Sunday and walked a mile and a quarter round a beautifully deserted old airfield. Shadow accompanied him before carrying on for another three miles.

Buddy (blue walker) joined the walkers for a four mile leg of the walk today and Basil and Sybil joined him and completed five miles each. This brings us into the Vosges region of France and a place called Maxonchamp.

We’re still waiting for some of the confirmations from walkers but the above brings us to a total of 114 miles down and 438 to go.

With on and off line donations we’re up to £1028 of our £2000 goal so far. You can help boost our funds at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/walkforheidi
