Unfortunately, due to Storm Austin, Kedleston Hall has been closed for safety checks until 11am this morning at least and may not open at all today. Therefore, we have had to cancel our planned Entlebucher walk. We’re sorry to any one who had planned to attend but will rearrange for early next year and hope to see you then.

Great dogs, great company and great sausages apparently!! Thank you to everyone who came and made it a special day.

The real question is … are they tired?!?

Our next Fun Day will be our Agility Fun Day on Saturday 10th September at Ryslip Kennels in Berkshire. The fun begins at 1pm and not only will your dog get to meet lots of other Entlebuchers, but will also have the opportunity to try to master the agility equipment. No previous experience on the part of either you or your dog is necessary and you’ll be able to work at whatever pace your dog drags you to!

There will be a charge of £2 per person on the day (children free), There is a coffee shop on site and cloakroom facilities are available too.

This is an open air event so if it is wet, you’ll need a brolly or wet weather gear.

On 23rd August, the Swiss Entlebucher Club celebrated its 100th birthday. 11 Club members and their dogs made the long trip to attend the birthday party in Fehraltorf and were treated to Swiss hospitality at its best. You can see a full report of the trip in the forthcoming newsletter, but in the meantime, here are just a few photographs from the day, as well as one taken the following day when our Swiss friends took us for a walk in the beautiful Entlebucher Biosphere.

April 19^th saw us return to Kedleston Hall for our first Entlebucher walk of the year. The weather was incredibly kind to us meaning we were able to take advantage of the long walk up behind the Hall and back along the side of the lake.

We’re always looking to arrange group walks across the country, so if you have a favourite walk you’d like to invite other Entlebuchers to join you on, please let us know (lynngibbins@btinternet.com) and we’d be happy to help you organise and promote it.

This year we returned to Cogenhoe and Whiston Village Hall in Northamptonshire for our Easter Fun Day on 4 April. Those who joined the fun were invited to take part in the Egg and Spoon Race, Leap Frog Relay, Biscuit Catch and Alfie Says, with prizes for the winners. Safe to say, a very good time was had by all.

We’re starting our series of Entlebucher walks this year with a return to Kedleston Hall in the Derbyshire Dales on 19th April. We’ll be meeting in the car park at 11.00am for an easy walk through the grounds, expected to last about 1 1/2 hours. There are full facilities on site, including a National Trust cafe for anyone wanting coffee or lunch afterwards..
