Walk for Heidi – Update 7th October

Today’s Walk

There are 552 miles to walk from Entlebuch in Switzerland to the Swiss Embassy in London and we’re trying to cover the equivalent distance to raise money for Heidi, who needs treatment for ectopic ureter.

Swiss born Sybil undertook the first leg of the walk. She’s still very young so covered 2 miles, representing the distance from Entlebuch station along Haupstrasse in the direction of Wolhusen. The yellow mark shows Sybil’s distance.

Basil’s ten mile leg moved us away from the Entlebuch valley and north past Willisau (the orange marker). Albie (brown marker) and Shadow (red marker) took us out of the Canton of Lucerne and into Aargau as far as far as Brittnau.

Then it was Salvo’s turn (green marker) and he took us another ten miles past Aarburg to just past Trimbach in the Canton of Solothurn. His housemate Izzy, still being a puppy, walked a mile and a half to the canton border with Basel-Landschaft.

Then there was some amazing walking from Arthos (grey), Bella (blue) who took us

over the border into France, Heidi walking for herself (purple), Senna (olive) and his sister Babeli (bright red) who each did just over 12 miles each (19.6km) and took us into the Haut-Rhin region as far as Sewen.

We are still waiting for news of other walkers from today, but the 11 dogs named above have covered 95 miles of the total route so far and there is more happening tomorrow.

Well done team Entlebucher. Don’t forget you can sponsor us at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/walkforheidi

Bella’s Pups

We are delighted to let you know that Bella gave birth to the CaicosRoo’s B litter last night. It was a long night for Sarah and Bella but at the end of it all there were seven beautiful Entlebucher puppies. Mum and pups (and human) are all doing well. Their names are: Boys : Blue Moon, Beaumont, Boerwolf & Bravado
Girls : Bijou, Bayo & Babeli. Little Bijou was the smallest at 333g, but she’s doing ok.

This brings the number of Entlebuchers in the UK to 89.

Breeding Test Results

There are three parts to the breeding tests for an Entlebucher Mountain Dog in the UK. They need to pass their health tests, conformation to breed standard and character tests. On 20th May the Club ran the official Character and Conformation Tests and the results are as follows:

Character Test Passes

Alfie Bangwood (M) (Buddy)
Caicosroos Alba (F)
Glenn Koppa z Mokrovous (M)
Torfheide D’Artagnan (M) (Leo)
Torfheide Della (F)

Conformation Passes

Alfie Bangwood (M) (Buddy)
Glenn Koppa z Mokrovous (M)
Torfheide D’Artagnan (M) (Leo)
Torfheide Della (F)
Torfheide Dixie (F)

Due to being in season both Dixie and Alba have elements of the test to complete when they can be seen in the next few weeks.

Well done to all the dogs. We will shortly add a new Breeding Dogs page to the site with details of all those who have now passed these tests. Health tests are still to be completed before they can join the breeding programme, but these are underway.

Now we are 81!

We have just heard about another Entlebucher who has moved to the UK. Welcome to Engee Anabantha – an 18month old girl – our 81st dog!

Beau has arrived from Russia

With the arrival of Beau (Nostradamus iz Blagorodnogo Doma) from Russia last week, we now have 79 Entlebuchers in the UK. Beau is settling well with his new family.
