In distance terms we are over half way, so keep those donations coming. Today Sybil and Basil each walked 5.5miles taking us close to a place called Beaumont sur Vesle. Shadow, Alfie, Wilma and Aristotle did 1.3 miles each and took us to Taissy. Then Salvo and Izzy finished the day with 3.3 miles each bringing us to Reims.
Please sponsor us to encourage us to finish the journey and maybe do a little more besides!
Izzy and Salvo added another 4 miles between them and walked as far as Ligny en Barrois, before pawing over to Aristotle. Ari only managed to walk 0.75 miles today, but he did his best. Babeli then added 1.63 miles as did Floria (who gets a black paw print on the map). Bella then added 5.36 miles taking us to Bar le Duc. Heidi’s 5.6 miles moved us up level with Chardogne. Shadow added 1.25 miles and Sybil 1.5 miles brought us past Laimont. Basil added another 2.5 miles and Wilma another 1.25 miles meaning we finish the day just outside Nettancourt. We are at the 232 mile stage.
We’ve got some great progress today. Koppa has walked a wonderful 15 miles (he’s the brown star on the map) that takes us almost to a place called Vouthon Haut. Then Izzy and Salvo added another 3.2miles between them before pawing over to Babeli, Heidi, Cleo and Bella who each walked 2.33miles and took us past Abainville, Houdelaincourt and Demange aux Eaux. Sybil walked the next mile and a half to Saint Joire before Basil took over voer 6 miles to finish the day at Naix aux Forges.
Today’s walkers have been as follows: Salvo put in another 2.7miles and Izzy 1.7miles. Sybil walked 2 miles and Basil 5 miles. Cleo walked 2.77miles, Babeli 1.63 miles and then Heidi and Bella walked 4.4miles each. That brings the total mileage up to 172 miles of the journey completed and we’ve got as far as Removille.
News came in last night of Elliot’s walk. He did 13km (just over 8 miles) to raise money for Heidi. He’s shown with the orange ‘walker’ symbol and takes us almost to the Col de Raon.
Salvo and Izzy stepped out again and took us past Hadol, before pawing over to Aristotle for his first part of the walk. Aristotle has elbow dysplasia so is having to do his walk in short stages. He’s doing his best but today managed just 1.4km (he’s shown as the green walker on the map).
Bella, Heidi and Cleo stepped out and managed 5.67km each. Their combined total has taken us as far as Gorhey (Cleo is the yellow walker symbol)
Where we’ve got to
Basil took us on through France to Dompaire before pawing over to Wilma for the last leg of the day. Wilma (purple walker symbol) takes us to the 147 mile stage.
Today Alfie (dark grey) at nearly twelve years old set of on a short leg of the Walk
Alfie and Shadow
for Heidi. Although he’s been finding walks and public places too stressful for some time, he set out on a beautiful quiet sunny Sunday and walked a mile and a quarter round a beautifully deserted old airfield. Shadow accompanied him before carrying on for another three miles.
Buddy (blue walker) joined the walkers for a four mile leg of the walk today and Basil and Sybil joined him and completed five miles each. This brings us into the Vosges region of France and a place called Maxonchamp.
We’re still waiting for some of the confirmations from walkers but the above brings us to a total of 114 miles down and 438 to go.
There are 552 miles to walk from Entlebuch in Switzerland to the Swiss Embassy in London and we’re trying to cover the equivalent distance to raise money for Heidi, who needs treatment for ectopic ureter.
Swiss born Sybil undertook the first leg of the walk. She’s still very young so covered 2 miles, representing the distance from Entlebuch station along Haupstrasse in the direction of Wolhusen. The yellow mark shows Sybil’s distance.
Basil’s ten mile leg moved us away from the Entlebuch valley and north past Willisau (the orange marker). Albie (brown marker) and Shadow (red marker) took us out of the Canton of Lucerne and into Aargau as far as far as Brittnau.
Then it was Salvo’s turn (green marker) and he took us another ten miles past Aarburg to just past Trimbach in the Canton of Solothurn. His housemate Izzy, still being a puppy, walked a mile and a half to the canton border with Basel-Landschaft.
Then there was some amazing walking from Arthos (grey), Bella (blue) who took us
The London Walkers at Tower Bridge
over the border into France, Heidi walking for herself (purple), Senna (olive) and his sister Babeli (bright red) who each did just over 12 miles each (19.6km) and took us into the Haut-Rhin region as far as Sewen.
We are still waiting for news of other walkers from today, but the 11 dogs named above have covered 95 miles of the total route so far and there is more happening tomorrow.
Tomorrow sees the launch of our 552 mile walk for Heidi. 20 dogs will be setting off on legs of the walk to cover the distance from Entlebuch in Switzerland to the Swiss Embassy in London. On 25th October 5 dogs will be doing a final leg of the walk and meeting the Swiss Ambassador. You can follow the progress of how far along the route they are by going to the Heidi Fundraising Page
Today at the Northern Fun Day we had a cake sale for Heidi and raised another £30.01 towards her fund. If you haven’t taken part in the cake bake yet, there’s still time so please do. Find more information HERE
